Fiji (2019)
Fiji - an island nation in the South Pacific that is a honeymooner’s dream. We went here as a way to get to Vanuatu (mostly) - see previous post. We traveled to Taveuni - The Garden Island - where the international date line passes through; the Yasawa Islands, and the Mamanuca Islands with a short stop in Nadi (the capitol).
Favorite memories:
Poasa’s homestay and the hat we left for him/the photo we mailed to him after.
Taking a tour to a waterfall in Taveuni where our drivers were unsure of whether to ford a river by car, and made the decision to after a family en route to church did it.
Having my husband saving me from said waterfall - the water was so cold and moving so fast!
All of the cats we met!
Hiking, swimming, SUP, & snorkeling - so much fun in the ocean and jungle.
Staying in a cabin right on the ocean - not quite overwater bungalow but damn near close with the tides.
Take a love note from a server at a delicious restaurant in Taveuni to his lover on another island we would be staying at.
Being on the international date line.
Experiencing some of the best snorkeling off shore - the ocean floor just dropped and far enough out the sea life was majestic!
Recovering quickly from a knee cap to metal boat incident, which also resulted in a room upgrade at our final hotel on the outer islands.
